Innersource's Support of "Project Light"

Where have American mental health workers most convincingly demonstrated the impact of Energy Psychology on PTSD?  With American veterans returning from Iraq and Afghanistan, you would think. But you would be wrong. Ask the practitioners and you will hear how close to impossible it has been to get the VA to officially allow therapies that involve tapping. Fortunately, a few heroic efforts outside of established channels have led to important studies published in major journals showing that Energy Psychology is effective with U.S. combat veterans.

But the right answer to the above question is "Rwanda."  With so many still traumatized after the 2004 genocide, the country's citizens have been open to anything that can demonstrate that it works. And five studies conducted in Rwanda have shown that people who have been suffering for more than a decade with insomnia, flashbacks, nightmares, the inability to hold a job, bed-wetting, difficulty concentrating, et cetera, have overcome these symptoms in as little as a single session. One of the studies, using standardized measures for PTSD, found the improvements lasted two years after a single-session treatment. Another single-session study did its follow-up one year later and also found that the improvements were durable.

Innersource has worked closely with the people involved in carrying out these treatment programs and the research documenting their results.  In many cases, the work did not stop when the treatment teams left. Energy psychology self-help techniques became part of the culture, with local leaders teaching it to their communities.

Imagine being able to heal the pain, hatred, and deep damage of warfare and genocide. Imagine being able to help a country that has been crippled open doors so its young leaders can thrive and be effective in shaping a future where wounds are healed and hope becomes realistic. Everything we need to know to be able to do all of this is available, today!

One of the teams from Rwanda, led by our dear colleague, Lori Leyden, is bringing this work to other countries now with a program called "Project Light."  Click here to watch an inspirational seven-minute clip about Project Light and to find out how you can become meaningfully involved in supporting this important work.

The Three Thumps

The Three Thumps exercise is part of the Daily Energy Routine that Donna Eden shares in her book Energy Medicine (pgs. 74-80).

Three Thumps

This process consists of tapping on three different meridian points. Tapping on these points will restore your energy when you are tired, increase your vitality and keep your immune system strong. Use this process each morning and anytime during the day that you need a pick-me-up.

1) K-27 Points

K-27 Points

To location these points, place the pointer finger of each hand on your collarbone and move your hands toward each other until you reach the two inside corners of your collarbone.  Drop straight down from these points to about an inch below your collarbone.  For most people, there is a soft spot or indentation there.

Tap or massage these points for about 30 seconds while breathing in and out.

Variation: in order to assist the energy to cross over from right to left and left to right... cross your arms and tap the left collar bone with the right fist and the right collar bone with the left fist.
Benefits of tapping K-27 points:
  • Increased energy
  • Feel more alert
  • Focus if you are having difficulty concentrating

2) Thymus Gland

The Thymus Gland is located in middle of the chest, centered below the K-27 points.  It's also called the Tarzan Spot.

Massage or tap on the center of your sternum (center of chest on breast bone) for about 30 seconds while breathing deeply in and out.
Benefits of tapping the Thymus Gland:
  • Stimulate your energy system
  • Boost your immune system
  • Increase your strength and vitality
3) Spleen Points

Spleen Points
Find the Spleen Points by moving your fingers down from your Thymus, out to your nipples, and straight down beneath your breasts.
The spleen points are located directly below each breast. Make fists and tap both points for about 20 seconds while breathing deeply in and out.

Benefits of tapping Spleen Points:
  • Lift your energy level
  • Balance your blood sugar
  • Strengthen your immune system

A Note From Donna Eden On Following Instructions Precisely

On Following Instructions Precisely

By Donna Eden

When I cooked my very first meal for David's parents in 1977, his mother, Edith, wanted the recipe. This put me into a stressful dilemma. I have always been considered a very good cook, but I've never stayed with a recipe. I may on rare occasions consult a recipe, but I never follow one. Why would you follow a recipe when your instincts tell you what to do at each choice point for the substance and taste you want for these guests for this meal? Being asked to describe the exercises used in Eden Energy Medicine presented the same kind of dilemma as Edith's request for my "recipe."

I recognize that it is necessary to lay out the procedures. And it is necessary to have a way, such as energy testing, to know what effect they had. But I never do the same procedure in exactly the same way twice. I always follow the energies and let them and how they are responding dictate my work. The procedures are useful. Remembering what has worked in the past when coming up against something like a stubborn Triple Warmer response kept me from having to keep re-inventing the wheel. But I always let my body and the energies of my client's body speak to me and influence how I do the procedures.

In mastering a system, you do need to learn the established procedures before you can move beyond them. They are the "default," and you can always come back to them and wind up with generally good results. But even early on, trust your instincts more than what is written. If it says "Hold the Neurovascular points for two minutes” and you feel that is not enough, or if you feel what is needed has been accomplished after a minute, trust that and verify with an energy test. The energies are talking to you. Learn their language and learn how to listen to them. That language is more important for mastering Eden Energy Medicine than any words I have written.

The Neurovascular Hold

OMG! Post holidaze stress got your knickers in a twist?

The Neurovascular Hold

When you are stressed or feeling blue, this technique releases tension from your body as well as from your mind. Your body still reacts to threat and stress as our ancestors' bodies did millions of years age. Running away or fighting required that the blood rush away from the brain and into the body to support quick action. You are designed to act in an emergency, not to think. The Neurovascular Hold interrupts the fight-or-flight response, bringing blood back to your forebrain so you can think more clearly.

1. Sitting or lying down, tune in to a stress you are feeling or focus on as stressful thought, memory, or situation.

2. Place your thumbs at your temples and the pads of your fingers on your forehead, on the bony area above your eyebrows.

3. Hold here softly for up to three minutes, breathing deeply, in through your nose and out through your mouth.

Alternative: Place the palm of one hand across your forehead and the palm of your other hand across the back of your head. Again, hold softly for up to three minutes, breathing deeply.

Wayne Cook Posture

The Wayne Cook Posture is named to honor Wayne Cook, a pioneering researcher of Bioenergetics force field who demonstrated the effectiveness of this technique for treating dyslexia and stuttering.

This exercise can also help with a wide range of psychological problems, including confusion, obsessiveness, compulsivity, disorganization, depression, and excessive anger.

If you are in a relationship with a partner who doesn’t seem to hear you, or if you have difficulty speaking your own truth, this is an excellent technique to use prior to any confrontation or important discussion.

This technique is also effective even when the upset is so intense that you are unable to quit crying, or find yourself snapping or yelling at others, sinking into despair, or feel that you are beyond exhaustion. The Wayne Cook Posture helps process stress hormones.

To do the Wayne Cook Posture, sit in a chair with your spine straight (time-about 90 seconds)
  1. Place your left foot over your right knee. Wrap you right hand around the front of your left ankle and your left hand over the ball of your left foot, with your fingers curled around the sides of the foot
  2. Breathe in slowly through your nose, letting the breath lift your body as you breathe in. At the same time, pull your leg toward you, creating a stretch. As you exhale, breathe out of your mouth slowly, letting your body relax. Repeat this slow breathing and stretching four or five times.
  3. Switch to the other foot. Place your right foot over your left knee. Wrap your left hand around the front of your right ankle and your right hand over the ball of your right foot, with your fingers curled around the side of your foot. Use the same breathing.
  4. Uncross your legs and “steeple” your fingertips together so they form a pyramid. Bring your thumbs to rest on your “third eye” just above the bridge of your nose. Breathe slowly and deeply, in through your nose and out through your mouth, about three or four full breaths.
  5. On the last exhalation, curl your fingers into the middle of your forehead and separate them, firmly and pleasantly, pulling across your forehead to your temples.
  6. Slowly bring your hands down in front of you. Surrender into your own breathing.

Grounding Techniques

Definitions: An electrical device is “grounded” when it is connected to the ground in a way that allows excess energy to leave the system.

We are “Physically Grounded” when we can feel our connection with the Earth and carry ourselves (posture, movement, awareness) in a manner that is in harmony with the Earth’s gravitational pull.

We are “Emotionally Grounded” when our energies and emotions move through our physically-grounded body freely and are wholesomely discharged through our cells, our breath, our thoughts, and our actions.

We are “Spiritually Grounded” when physically grounded body and emotionally grounded mind are in harmony and alignment with one another and with “spirit” (the animating force within living things).

Bellow are techniques described in the
Energy Medicine book that will help align your energies with the force field of the Earth and allow your energies and feelings to move freely through your body:

· “Separating Heaven and Earth”/“
Connecting Heaven and Earth
· The 3rd Eye /Navel “Hook-up”
· “Taking Down the Flames”
· “
Expelling the Venom” (Follow with a slow and deliberate “Zip-up” that ends by reaching up and circling your arms down until they hang at your sides
· With your hands on your thighs, smooth your hands down your legs
· The “Wayne Cook Posture”
· The “Three Thumps”
